1991 Mercedes Benz 300E (124 Chassis) Drive Belt Service and Repair
Removing and installing poly-V-belt
Preceding work: Viscous fan clutch removed. Slacken bolt (16) about 1/4-1/2 turn. Slacken tensioning nut (5) (turn to the left). Take off poly-V-belt (27).
Check belt pulley profiles for signs of damage and dirt replace if necessary (eg. worn bearing points of tensioning device, dents in belt pulleys etc.).
Caution! If poly-V-belt has broken or dropped off, check concentricity of shafts and belt pulleys.
Turn setting pointer (13) to marking (1) (arrow).
